E-Survey Guide

How do I login to E-Survey?

You should have been authorised by your organisation in Corppass to submit E-Survey returns to the Department of Statistics (DOS).

You will be required to login to E-Survey with Singpass.

After logging in, the system will display the business surveys and survey reference periods that your organisation is required to participate in. Select a survey and reference period to proceed. Click on "Start Survey" to proceed.

How do I submit the survey return online in E-Survey?

If you wish to complete the survey online, click on "Proceed to Survey" under "Enter Data Online". Then follow the instructions to complete the survey.

If you wish to complete it offline, click on the "Download Template" of "Import Excel Data". After filling up the form, you will have to return to this screen again to upload the completed Excel form to submit the survey.

If you are using anti-spyware software that may disable the Excel file upload popup window during E-survey submission, you will need to enable the popup window. To view this popup window, you need to disable the popup blocker on your browser. You can read about how to disable your popup blocker here.

How do I know if my E-Survey submission is successful?

There will be an acknowledgement statement as shown below for every successful submission. Please print the statement for future reference.

If you wish to make further changes to the information submitted, please contact the officer-in-charge as indicated in the survey letter.

What should I do if I need help in submitting surveys in E-Survey?

You can refer to these instructions for online submission.

For enquiries on E-Survey service, you can write to us via Secured Messages in E-Survey service or contact the DOS officers-in-charge as indicated in the survey letter.

Where can I get help if I have difficulty using the E-Survey?

If you need assistance in using the E-Survey, please contact the DOS officers-in-charge as indicated in the survey letter.

How do I send a survey enquiry via Secured Messages?

To send a survey enquiry, click on "Secured Messages" on the left-hand menu. Click on "New Mail" to write a new message and you can attach up to 5 documents in a message.

Click on "Save" to save a draft and the saved draft can be found in "Draft" folder.

Click on "Send" to send the message and the sent messages can be found in "Sent" folder.

How do I view the reply to my survey enquiry via Secured Messages?

Click on "Secured Message" on the left-hand menu. Select "Inbox" folder and click on the "Subject" of the message you wish to reply.

Click on the "Reply" button to reply to this message.

How do I apply for survey extension in E-Survey?

The survey extension function is available in E-Survey upon successful login.

If you wish to apply for survey extension, click on "Apply Extension" on the left-hand menu.

The system will display the current survey due date(s) for the outstanding survey(s) and eligibility for on-line extension.

Click on the "Apply for Extension" button for the survey that you require an extension.

After applying for extension, you will see this acknowledgement window with your acknowledgement number and the survey will reflect the new Due Date.

How do I add Survey Contact into E-Survey?

Click on the "Survey Contact Details" on the left-hand menu.

Click on the "Add More Contacts" button, fill up the relevant details into the form that appears. Once completed, click on the "Save & Proceed" button at the bottom of the page.

Once you have completed the above steps, to proceed to "Assign Survey Contact Person" on the left-hand menu to assign yourself as the contact person for the survey. Please refer here to assign a Survey Contact to a survey.

How do I assign Survey Contact to a survey?

Click on the "Assign Survey Contact" on the left-hand menu.

Pick the Survey Contact in the drop-down list under "Survey Contact Person" for the respective surveys.

Once done, click on the "Save & Proceed" button at the bottom of the page.

If there are no contacts in the drop-down list, please refer here to add a new Survey Contact.

How do I view the transaction history in E-Survey?

Click on the "Transaction History" on the top left menu to view the transactions history of your organisation. The system will display the surveys and reference periods available for your organisation. You can view transaction history for all these surveys and reference periods.

The system records E-Survey transactions, namely, successful login, uploading of attachment (supporting document) and successful submission.  Other types of E-Survey transactions such as unsuccessful submission, downloading of blank form, saving the updates without submission and logout are not recorded in the system.

System Settings and Requirements

What software is required to complete survey returns in E-Survey?

You require a web browser and Microsoft Excel.

Depending on surveys, you will require the following software.

Supported software:

    Web browsers

  • Microsoft Edge (version 80 and above)
  • Google Chrome (version 75 and above)
  • Mozilla Firefox (version 68 and above)

  • Other Software

  • Microsoft Excel 2010 and above

What are the hardware requirements for using E-Survey?

You should have an Internet ready PC running Windows 7/8/10 with at least a 1.3GHz processor with a supported browser and Adobe Reader XI or DC (version 11.0 and above).

How do I ensure that SSL is activated and running?

Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox will have SSL enabled.

How do I clear the browser's cache?

It is recommended that you clear your browser's cache, and close all other applications that are running in your PC to free up memory space. For instructions on how to clear "cache" (temporary internet files), please follow the steps below based on the version of the browser you are using.

Microsoft Edge

  • Step 1: Click the menu icon spanner, "Settings and more" at the top right side of the browser.
  • Step 2: Click the "Settings"
  • Step 3: Click "Privacy, search and services" in the left panel
  • Step 4: Under the "Clear browsing data". Click "Choose what to clear" button.
  • Step 5: In the dialogue box that appears, select the "checkboxes" for the types of information that you want to remove
  • Step 6: Click the "Clear now" button.

Google Chrome

  • Step 1: Click the menu icon spanner, "Customise and control Google Chrome" at the top right side of the browser
  • Step 2: Click "Settings"
  • Step 3: Click "Privacy and security" in the left toolbar
  • Step 4: Select "Clear browsing data"
  • Step 5: In the dialogue box that appears, select the " Time Range" for the time frame of the data that you would like to remove. Select "All time" to delete everything
  • Step 6: In the dialogue box that appears, select the " checkboxes" for the types of information that you want to remove
  • Step 7: Click the "Clear data" button.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Step 1: Click the menu icon spanner, "Open Menu" at the top right side of the browser.
  • Step 2: Click the "Settings"
  • Step 3: Click "Privacy and security" in the left toolbar
  • Step 4: Under the "Cookies and Site Data". Click "Clear Data" button. (This may take a while to update the amount of data saved.)
  • Step 5: In the dialogue box that appears, select the "checkboxes" for the types of information that you want to remove
  • Step 6: Click the "Clear" button.
  • Step 7: In the confirmation question dialog box, click on the "Clear Now" button.

How do I check the version of my operating system?

For PC running on Windows Vista/7 Operating systems:

  • Click on the Windows icon or Start Menu on your task bar
  • Select "Control Panel"
  • Go to "System"
  • Go to "General" tab in the System Properties dialog box
  • The operating system version is displayed under " System"

For PC running on Windows 8/10 Operating systems:

  • Right click on the Windows icon or Start Menu on your task bar.
  • Click on "System"
  • The operating system version is displayed under "Windows Specifications"

How do I configure my browser to enable JavaScript?

If you are using a browser add-on that disables Javascript, please refer to the documentation of the browser add-on to enable Javascript.

Microsoft Edge

  • Step 2: Click "Settings"
  • Step 3: Click "Cookies and site permissions" in the left toolbar

How do I disable popup blocking?

If you are using other anti-spyware software such as Norton Internet Security, McAfee Total Protection, etc., please refer to the respective product documentation on disabling popup blocking or check with your network administrator.

How can I be assigned to DOS E-Survey in Corppass?

Your firm's Corppass Administrator shall go to "e-Services Access" at Corppass, click "Select Entity's e-Services" and select "DOS E-Survey". Then go to "Assign selected e-Services" to assign you to "DOS E-Survey".

You can login to Corppass and view the e-services assigned to you. If the DOS E-Survey service is not assigned to you, you can approach your firm's Corppass Administrator.
