E-Survey System Requirements and Settings

Q: What are the hardware and software requirements for using E-Survey?

You should have an Internet ready PC running Windows 7/8/10 with at least a 1.3GHz processor with a supported browser and Adobe Reader XI or DC (version 11.0 and above). Supported browsers:

  • Internet Explorer version 11 and above
  • Google Chrome (version 75 and above)
  • Mozilla Firefox (version 68 and above)

Q: How do I ensure that SSL is activated and running?

Google Chrome 75 and Mozilla Firefox 68 will have SSL enabled.

For Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer version 11 and above

  • Click on the Gear icon  spanner at the top right to access the "Tools" menu.
  • Choose "Internet Options"
  • Select "Advanced" tab
  • Scroll down to Security and ensure that "Use SSL 3.0" is checked
  • Click "OK"

Q: How do I clear the browser's cache?

It is recommended that you clear your browser's cache, and close all other applications that are running in your PC to free up memory space. For instructions on how to clear "cache" (temporary internet files), please follow the steps below based on the version of the browser you are using.

Internet Explorer 11

  • Step 1: Click on the Gear icon spanner at the top right to access the "Tools" menu.
  • Step 2: Go to the "General" tab in Internet Options
  • Step 3: Click "Delete Files..." under "Temporary Internet Files"
  • Step 4: Click "OK" for the "Delete Files" dialog box
  • Step 5: Click "OK" again to exit the Internet Options

Google Chrome

  • Step 1: Click the menu icon spanner, "Customise and control Google Chrome" at the top right side of the browser
  • Step 2: Click "Settings"
  • Step 3: Click "Privacy and security" in the left toolbar
  • Step 4: Select "Clear browsing data"
  • Step 5: In the dialogue box that appears, select the " Time Range" for the time frame of the data that you would like to remove. Select "All time" to delete everything
  • Step 6: In the dialogue box that appears, select the " checkboxes" for the types of information that you want to remove
  • Step 7: Click the "Clear data" button.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Step 1: Click the menu icon spanner, "Open Menu" at the top right side of the browser.
  • Step 2: Click the "Options"
  • Step 3: Click "Privacy and security" in the left toolbar
  • Step 4: Under the "Cookies and Site Data". Click "Clear Data" button. (This may take a while to update the amount of data saved.)
  • Step 5: In the dialogue box that appears, select the "checkboxes" for the types of information that you want to remove
  • Step 6: Click the "Clear" button.
  • Step 7: In the confirmation question dialog box, click on the "Clear Now" button.

Q: How do I check the version of my operating system?

For PC running older Windows Vista/7 Operating systems:

  • Click on the Windows icon or Start Menu on your task bar
  • Select "Control Panel"
  • Go to "System"
  • Go to "General" tab in the System Properties dialog box
  • The operating system version is displayed under " System"

For PC running newer Windows 8/10 Operating systems:

  • Right click on the Windows icon or Start Menu on your task bar.
  • Click on "System"
  • The operating system version is displayed under "Windows Specifications"

  • Javascript is enabled by default and there is no explicit option to disable Javascript.

Q: How do I disable popup blocking?

If you are using other anti-spyware software such as Norton Internet Security, McAfee Total Protection, etc., please refer to the respective product documentation on disabling popup blocking or check with your network administrator.

  • Step 6: Enter "biz-esurvey.singstat.gov.sg" and click on the "Allow" button.

Q: How do I enable display PDF in browser for Acrobat Reader XI?

  • Open Adobe Reader
  • At the top of the Adobe Reader window, click the "Edit" menu, and select "Preferences" to open the Preferences window
  • In the left pane of the Adobe Reader Preferences window, select the Internet section
  • Select "Display PDF in Browser"

Internet Explorer version 11

  • Click the icon on the IE toolbar > Manage Add-ons"
  • Under "Add-on Types", select "Toolbars and Extensions"
  • In the Show list box, select "All Add-ons" or Run without permission

    IE10 & 11 addons
  • In the list of add-ons, select "Adobe PDF Reader"
  • Click the  "Enable" or "Disable" button (it toggles depending on the status of the selected add-on):
    "Enable" sets the Adobe PDF Reader add-on to open PDFs in the browser.
    "Disable" turns off the add-on so it does not open PDFs in the browser.
